12 Apr Go Oculus Go!
Believe it or not, Oculus is about to launch their new VR headset that will only cost $199! When it comes to VR for the average consumer, Oculus has the market by the horns. As amazing as the HTC-Vive is, they are still pretty far behind their main competitor when it comes to consumer pricing.
On their website, Oculus made the comment, “This all-in-one device makes VR more accessible than ever and represents a huge leap forward in comfort, visual clarity, and ease-of-use.”
For those of you familiar with VR tech, you’ll know that it requires some obnoxious cable management in order to have the best experience. However, the Oculus Go is a standalone headset that will not require a smartphone, cables or wires to operate. Making it the most manageable high-end VR headset out there.
Having Facebook as the parent company to Oculus truly has its perks. Mark Zuckerberg has always talked about his belief that VR will have a major impact on our world. Back in 2014, when Zuckerberg announced the acquirement of Oculus, he stated:
“Virtual Reality was once the dream of science fiction. But the internet was also once a dream, and so were computers and smartphones. One day, we believe this kind of immersive, augmented reality will become a part of daily life for billions of people.”
These are some bold words from one of the world’s largest influencers. So far it doesn’t seem that VR has made that large of an effect on day to day life. That being said Zuckerberg believes the Oculus Go will be the “sweet spot” between the simple phone VR headsets and hardware like the HTC-Vive and Oculus Rift.
VR is coming and it’s going to have such an incredible impact on our lives. Oculus Go is the first glimpse of seeing this incredible tech in every home.
